all about food

Susan of mighty acorns blog fame challenged me to answer some questions on food and cooking.
spinach & feta pie with pinenuts and cheeky chilli chutney
spinach and ham tart
1. What, or who inspired you to start a blog?
My very good friend, Irene. I like to write stuff. I love the challenge of finding the words to express complex concepts in simple, understandable terms. Irene saw this in me and encouraged me to blog.  Thanks Irene.
2. Who is your foodie inspiration?
Always Jamie.  Hell yeah.  I have a bunch of his books and his recipes are always full of flavour and not too complex. I like the way he communicates.
pinwheel sausage, leek & cider gravy, mash, apple salad,
baked apples & yoghurt

3.  Your greasiest, batter-spattered food/drink book is?
Jamie's 30-minute meals
4. Tell us all about the best thing you have ever eaten in another country, where was it, what was it?
I just et a beef cheek on cauliflower mash at a Spanish tapas restaurant in Melbourne (not exactly another country, but what the heck). The beef was so tender you scooped it apart with a spoon. We booked the table a month in advance and had to go on a waiting list and scored a table.
6. What is the one kitchen gadget you would ask Santa for this year (money no object of course)?
a robot that cleans up after me
7. Who taught you how to cook?
cauliflower and broccholi cheese macaroni
the Ole Lade gave me a good grounding. And then I started taking notice of what I ate and took to creating my own tasty and healthy meals using advice, tv shows and recipes
8. I’m coming to you for dinner what’s your signature dish?
Chicken tagine followed by home made chocolate ice cream. Also Jamie's Cheeky Chilli Chutney, and anything with lots of fresh veg from our garden. I love the challenge of making new recipes to use a glut of fresh produce from the garden.
9. What is your guilty food pleasure?
Lindt milk chocolate with roasted hazelnuts.  Coffee.
10. Reveal something about yourself that others would be surprised to learn?
I could happily live on cold toast with real butter and vegemite for the rest of my life

asian chicken with cashews

spinach filo pie
Finally…tag 3 other bloggers with these questions…like a hot baked potato…pass it on!

beef hash, roast potatos, beans n bacon, goddess salad
